Institute For Orphan and Rare Diseases

Contributing to the study of orphan and rare diseases by using AdInfer© artificial intelligence system and expertise to meet challenges associated with very small numbers of individuals with specific diseases.

About Us

Identified rare diseases

There currently are over 7,000 identified rare diseases, affecting a total of over 30 million Americans. Despite advances in science, medicine and drug development, orphan and rare diseases remain scarcely investigated, and most of them do not have FDA-approved treatments.

Challenges

IFORD uses artificial intelligence tools

IFORD uses artificial intelligence tools to study the prevalence and incidence of rare diseases in the general population, foster innovative research for the screening of individuals and the development of treatments, and generate insights for public health and regulatory considerations.

Our Activities

How can AdInfer© artificial intelligence (AI) system help address challenges associated with the study of rare diseases?

  • Screen large numbers of individuals from the general population worldwide through a digital platform
  • Screen patients and families through large network of clinic satellite centers
  • Collect large number of variables allowing to identify symptoms, patterns, and associations that may not have been seen otherwise
  • Generate new hypotheses in the understanding of the disease, and/or for the development of treatments
  • Potentially allow for an earlier diagnosis
  • Contribute to clinical trials by providing an easier and more representative recruitment of subjects, the collect of large numbers of variables and by facilitation follow-ups and longitudinal studies
